Ruby

Hi everyone!

My name is Ruby and I am a 3 year old cockerpoo. I came to SEDR as an unclaimed stray and have been in foster in Kent since the beginning of November.

I am looking for:

•  A home as the only dog - and no cats or small furries
• An adult only home (infrequent older visiting sensible children / teenagers could be fine)
• An active, experienced home
• Ideally someone experienced with cockerpoos...

I came into rescue without any history but it was immediately apparent I have been through trauma and abuse...and need a patient and experienced home. I am a sweet and loving girl who will be your best friend...once I understand that I can trust you and my environment. 

I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. During my spay, it was found that I had recently been pregnant and had miscarried and needed to have necrotic tissue removed. This has no lasting health implications going forward but was another stressful and difficult time for me. 

My foster Mum is amazing and has helped to unravel the implications of me being harshly handled previously. I now understand a kind hand but will need my new parent/s to continue to be patient and sympathetic whilst I learn to trust them. I am very keen to please and need someone to comfort me (not punish me) if I get things wrong, am fearful / scared or do not understand what is expected. 

I absolutely love my walks and have a great recall on a long training lead.... But true recall off lead is still a work in progress!

In general I am happy to meet other dogs out and about and walk with them, but I absolutely will not share my home or my person with another dog.

I LOVE playing ball and will continue to chase it and bring it back for as long as you will throw it!! I love my toys and love to play with them with my human - I loves a game of tug and will continually bring things & put them in your hand to force you to play with me 🙂

I will bark and chase at the birds in the garden and out on walks!

Other than a few settling in accidents, I am housetrained and fine to be left for a few hours.

I am very quick to learn, and made much easier by my love for treats! I need my new home to be patient, gentle and be able to continue my training.. and who are consistent and motivated to continuing my education.
