Violet

Hi everyone!

My name is Violet and 3.5 year old, 2.5kg Pomeranian x Chihuahua. I came to SEDR as an unclaimed stray (presumed dumped) and I have now been vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.

I have a congenital deformity with my back legs which means I have an unusual gait, but as I was born this way...I know no different and manage well with walking and running.

I am currently in foster in Dartford.

Due to her tiny 2.5kg size, we are looking for an adult home - sensible older visiting children is fine.

Violet is currently in foster with another dog and would like to live with another dog, unless she has 24/7 constant human company - then she could be the only dog in the home.

She is in foster with cats, but can be over zealous in wanting to play with them at times, and will playfully chase and nip them until they tell her off! If she were to live with a cat in her new home, the cat will need to be extremely confident with dogs!!!

Here is what her foster Mum says about her -

Despite her disability Violet is an absolute bundle of energy and loves to go for walks, play with her toys and will chase you around the house if you aren’t showing her enough attention🤣. She can get very excited and will nibble your feet and legs! Now that she has gained some weight and settled in a home her walking is much better, and her legs do not seem to bother her - besides the fact she cannot jump up onto beds or the sofa so needs to either be lifted or she is able to make it with help of a footstool!

She is an absolute sweetheart and is very loving. She wants to be near you all the time and will want to sleep on the bed with you. She has been left for up to 4 hours (with canine company) and after some initial whining settles well and has never had an accident indoors when left on her own.

Violet has come on well with her house training but will need a home that is willing to work on this. She has started to ask to be let out but still occasionally sneaks off to do her business indoors - particularly if the weather is bad!

Violet can be slightly reactive when she is walking on her lead. We have had visiting dogs and people (including children) at home and she says hello nicely however out and about she will bark and pull when she sees other dogs or people. She is responding well to training and is learning to keep walking past nicely.

She is very food motivated and enjoys some food enrichment or a dog chew to keep her busy.

She travels well in the car however will have moments of whining, this seems to be improving as she is learning that we usually only get in the car to go to nice places!

She sleeps well at night however she’s an early riser and does tend to get us up about 6am for her breakfast!

A huge character in a tiny body!!
