Woody
Hi everyone!
My name is Woody and I am a 4/5 month old 12kg crossbreed (possibly lurcher pointer cross) I came to SEDR as an unclaimed stray and have now been vaccinated and microchipped. Due to my young age, I will be re-homed on a neutering contract and must be neutered at an appropriate age.
I arrived at SEDR with zero training or boundaries - basically an 8 week old pup in a much bigger body! I have been in foster where they have been working hard on my mouthing which has improved but still a work in progress!
I need a home that can focus on structure and boundaries using positive reinforcement, and who understand that I am still a baby and need regular nap times when I start to become over stimulated!
I have little experience of vehicles when out walking and need to get used to these slowly, but travel well in the car.
Overall I am housetrained but my new family must be prepared for settling in accidents and continue to remind me to go out after nap times and feeding etc.
Big puppy Woody
I can sometimes be shy around new dogs but warm up quickly and then enjoy playing with them.
I am learning recall but stay on a long line when at the field. I would easily be distracted by small furries such as bunnies or squirrels!!
I love cuddles and am very affectionate but am also very playful and often find that I do not know when or how to stop! I need a home who understand that I need calming, mental stimulation such as stationary clicker training, snuffle mats, kongs and puzzles (rather than lots of fast pace chasing play - as this over stimulates me)
I can be quite vocal at times but am easily distracted by doing a simple training task with a tasty treat!
I am teething so long lasting natural chews are a necessity!
I have met visiting children and loved spending time with them but am looking for an adult home (sensible calm teenagers would be fine) who have the time and the knowledge to continue my training.
I am looking for a home as the only dog where someone is around for most of the day, and my new family must be committed to taking me to positive reinforcement puppy training.. and my new family must have experience with what could be seen as challenging puppy behaviours by inexperienced owners.
If you can offer me routine, structure, ongoing training and lots of love, please use the link below to complete an application form
Lots of love
Woody xx
